Two books have been growing side by side over the last months, and they have come to maturity together. Yet they are rather different in their approach, so I want to give a short explanation here, in offering them both to you.

I feel that I should share them both publicly, since they address the heart of the reality that I believe God has entrusted to me to communicate. The first, In the Arms of the Father: Intimate Reflections, is a kind of sequel to my first book, At the Wellspring of Childhood, since it picks up where the other left off in my personal journey. (You definitely don’t need to read the first one before it, however.) This work is important because, if you have read At the Wellspring, you know that it can be rather difficult at times, and perhaps a little narrow. It was born from within a time of deep suffering, in which I gradually found God’s healing light and love pouring in and transforming my life and experience. The sequel is, I feel, more mature and harmonious, born from a greater light, and I think will greatly help deepen your own understanding, not only of what I have written previously, but, I pray, of the love of God at work in your own life.

The other book, The Blossoming of Love: Meditations on the Romance of Christian Life, is not autobiographical like the other two. It is rather an extended reflection, in prayer, on the beauty of the “Threefold Mystery” of childhood, spousehoood and maternity/paternity that lies at the heart of the existence of each one of us. In this respect it is similar in ways to the Theology of the Body, and yet grew also from other sources.

In all of my writings, and my life as a whole, I am becoming increasingly aware of a particular gift and task that our Lord has entrusted to me, and that I think you will find it at work in my books. This is the charism of heart-healing, which is deeply needed by so many in our culture, by so many of us whose ability to receive and to give love has been fractured by wounds, fears, and sins. I am immensely humbled by what our Father has given to me throughout my life; I feel like a tiny little child overwhelmed with gifts. And I yearn to share them in some small way with you, to help you discern and receive the unique gifts that this same Father offers so lovingly to you in your own life. The ultimate gift that he offers in every moment and in every thing is ultimate one: it is the Gift of himself, the God of Love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Blossoming of Love should be released within the next week or two. However, In the Arms of the Father is already available. You may view its page by clicking the image below:

Joshua

I know that your heart yearns, little one, to create something beautiful, a testament of love, a reflection, in the dimness of this world, of the radiant beauty of my own eternal light. I know the longing within to give birth without, the desire to create, sharing in eternal creativity. I want you to know, beloved, and to feel that the greatest masterpiece which I desire for you is the unspeakable beauty which is you yourself. You, the one whom I infinitely love, are the icon, transparent to my shining glory, enfolded in my grace, a blaze of fiery light bursting through the eyes, a figure whose countenance, whose heart, whose life is a reflection of the life, the heart, the face which is my own.
