Dawnbringer: Legacy – Book I: A Song for Vælíria

Price range: $10.00 through $13.00

Taking place about thirty-five years after the conclusion of the Lightborn series, Legacy commences with the journey of Hældáris, son of the king, and his two dear companions, Relmaríndë and Aeyósha, as they sail from their homeland of Telmérion with a company of men toward to shores of Vælíria. They intend to serve as mediators in a mission of peace and conciliation, and yet before they reach land tragedy strikes, and a path entirely unexpected opens before them. From the ruins of their plans and the pain of loss can they again gather the threads of their journey and see it through to its conclusion?

Woven into this narrative is another, beginning in the years contemporary with Lightborn although on a faraway land, in Vælíria, and progressing into the present. It is the story of Albrýndaer and Ílya, children raised in the subterranean darkness, imprisoned by a society on the brink of rebellion, a rebellion which their own discoveries unintentionally unleash, and in the midst of which they struggle to remain together in the face of forces that would tear their communion apart.

Dawnbringer is a series of novels that serves as the narrative thread at the center of the Tales of Irándiel, and it is composed of three parts: Lightborn, the dramatic heart, Legacy, the sequal that unfolds and extends, and Origin, a prequel occurring thirteen-hundred years before the events of Lightborn and yet setting the stage for that story. This world is the sole artifact of my mythopoetic imagination and a lifelong fruit of both love and wonder, born of the desire that through the mysterious power of imagination and story the primordial light may shine to give solace and consolation, to stir our hearts to awe and lighthearted gratitude, and to awaken the compassion that embraces the world in both its brokenness and its beauty.
