I am happy to share a new book, which has been recently published: Responding to the Thirst of God: 40 Days to the Heart of Love. Modeled as 6 weeks of reflection and prayer, this book explores the heart of Christian prayer, spirituality, and life as nuptial intimacy with Christ and incorporation into the life of the Trinity. Benefiting from the thought and experience of saints and mystics such as John of the Cross and Teresa of Calcutta, I try to “light a fire” of encounter with God’s infinite thirst to love and to be loved, and to stir into flame our own thirst for union with him, and for ardent and total love, born from this encounter. I also trace the path of transfiguration from first encounter with God to beatific consummation in nuptial union with him, a path sustained wholly by grace but truly elevating and fulfilling human activity. This path leads to the blessed state called the “spiritual marriage,” a union begun already in this life and yet finding its definitive conclusion in heaven, in the eternal embrace of the holy Three-in-One.
